Bikeability Week at Cherry Orchard
Thu 08 Jul 2021Year 5 pupils at Cherry Orchard Primary School have spent the week gaining practical cycling proficiency skills, to ensure they understand how to cycle safely on the roads.
The Bikeability training programme aims to give pupils a greater confidence in cycling and aims to develop cycle handling.
It is great to see pupils putting our Trust-wide value of 'Safety' into practice. -
Northwick Manor pupils visit to a sustainable centre
Thu 08 Jul 2021Reception pupils at Northwick Manor Primary School went on an inspiring trip to Bishops Wood a sustainable centre in Stourport-on-Severn. The grounds are home to a large pond and several outdoor learning areas with natural wood and willow sculptures.
Pupils learnt about insects, plants and animals in their natural environment. On returning to school the children used clay to make their own mini beasts and discussed facts they have learnt.
It is great to see pupils learning about the environment and how to protect it. Learning which is rooted in our vision ‘to teach children to love learn live as a global citizen in an ever-changing world’.

Jubilee Park pupils get a visit from Florence Nightingale
Thu 08 Jul 2021Year 1 pupils at Jubilee Park Academy had a visit from the Freshwater Theatre Company, who delivered a historical workshop on Florence Nightingale.
The interactive session was a perfect way to bring their history topic to life. Using drama activities, the pupils explored Florence’s lifetime, re-enacting the Scutari hospital, with the children taking on roles such as patients, nurses and even rats!The workshop was a fantastic way to bring learning to life.

Jubilee Park pupils learn key skills on forest adventure
Thu 08 Jul 2021Year 6 pupils from Jubilee Park Academy enjoyed a trip to Frank Chapman Outdoor Centre outdoor education centre, set in a beautiful ancient oak forest in Bewdley.
Pupils made the most of the incredible surroundings by taking part in shelter building and learning a range of skills which will enable them to love, learn, live as a global citizen in an ever-changing world.

Summerhill Garden Project
Thu 08 Jul 2021Pupils have been busy at Summerhill Primary Academy, transforming the garden area. The ground has been cleared, seeds planted, and fences built. The pupils have planted a range of herbs and vegetables including pumpkins, parsnips, chives, beans, cauliflowers, sunflowers and basil. The pupils were very keen to plant the pumpkins as they are hoping to be able to carve them at Halloween. They also plan to sell any fruit or vegetables.
The pupils are already displaying entrepreneurial spirit and an awareness of living sustainably, which is a key part of our new curriculum framework.

Congratulations James on your Certificate in Coaching
Thu 08 Jul 2021To go with his many other computing and digital accolades, James Radburn, Computing and Digital Innovation Lead at the Rivers Trust has now completed The Chartered Institute for IT BCS Certificate in Coaching for Computing Educators.
James oversees, develops and implements the Trusts ‘Digital Transformation Strategy’ which looks at how we take advantage of and effectively use technology to support staff and children. Ensuring that as a Trust we maximise new ways of learning, being creative and expression through use of technology.Our Rivers children will very much benefit from James’s continued professional development and love of learning for life.

Congratulations Catherine on your graduation
Thu 08 Jul 2021Catherine Atkinson, Executive Lead for School Improvement & Teaching Alliance at the Rivers Academy Trust has demonstrated one of our core values ‘Achievement’ through her continued professional development.
Alongside delivering training and driving school improvement across our family of schools, Catherine also managed to complete a Master’s in Education at Worcester University.
Catherine exemplifies our vision as a Trust to love learning for life.
