Why did you apply for an apprenticeship at the school/The Rivers CofE Academy Trust?
To develop my business professional skills, knowledge and understanding and to gain a recognised and accredited qualification in business management. This is to support my continued professional development and support my career aspirations.
What does your apprenticeship involve?
The Level 4 School Business Professional Apprenticeship is a 24-month course accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management.
The programme includes five one-day face-to-face sessions, up to seven coach meetings with work-based and online learning covering the following topics: leading support services, finance, marketing, infrastructure, procurement, and HR. The apprenticeship links to the ISBL Professional Standards in terms of the course content and is assessed against those standards.
What skills have you learnt during your apprenticeship?
The course is designed to develop skills in Financial and Operational Management, Project Management, Change Management, Communication and Relationship Building, and Strategic Management. I would say that I have developed my skills in all of these areas but in particular my strategic leadership skills.
What has been the highlight of your apprenticeship?
I have enjoyed completing the apprenticeship alongside a colleague (Fyonna) who is completing the course at the same time. This has allowed us to support each other throughout. The face-to-face sessions with our mentor have been really well delivered and enjoyable.
