Children develop a love of learning for life
Across our family of schools we are all passionate about making a difference and ensuring children achieve the best outcomes. We have a have a united vision 'to teach children to love, learn, live as a global citizen in an ever-changing world'.
We inspire children to love learning for life by ensuring:
- Pupils are happy, motivated and have aspirations
- Pupils are safe
- Pupils are independent learners but can also work as part of a team
- Pupils know and are ready for the next stage of learning
- Pupils are treated as individuals
- Pupils have a sense of responsibility for the world around them
We have high aspirations for our pupils and our shared values encourage them to be STARS.
STARS values help pupils have a sense of responsibility for themselves and the world around them.
We focus on creating an environment where children feel safe, valued and encouraged to try new things, not fearing failure. We focus on developing the skills and behaviours children need to prepare them to make a positive contribution to society.
A Rivers pupil will leave school having an enquiring mind, ability to challenge, a love of learning and will be encouraged to follow their dreams.
How do children benefit from being part of The Rivers CofE Academy Trust?
Pupils have access to greater opportunities
Our trust-wide events not only give children the opportunity to try new experiences, but it also gives them a sense of belonging to a greater community, which improves their motivation, health, and happiness.
Our pupils benefit from access to excellent additional facilities, large outdoor space and wonderful enrichment opportunities.
We regularly hold joint events, such as music festivals and a boxcar rally, so that pupils meet their peers from other schools, develop new friendships and gain a sense of community spirit.
Inclusive and stimulating extra-curricular and enrichment opportunities allow children to engage in meaningful activities that develop their knowledge and widen their horizons.
Pupils learning is enhanced by the latest technology
“[For pupils] we were ensuring access to wider opportunities such as working with key partners and also access to the latest advances in technology and specialist IT school improvement advice and support.” Karen Banford, Head Teacher
In an ever-changing world, digital skills are as important as reading, writing and numeracy. We have invested in digital devices to support and enhance learning opportunities. Tablets and laptops are widely available in our schools, with many schools now providing one device per pupil to use within lessons.
Children have access to quality resources and digital technology to support targeted and individualised teaching and learning.

Every child is valued and included
Each school has its own identity, demographic and challenges. With such a variety of schools in our family, we have developed a unique understanding of how to best support and improve pupil outcomes.
We celebrate diversity, everyone is included and valued. The whole school community lives our STARS values in a way that shows respect and understanding of different cultures, religion, and abilities.
Children are at the heart of everything we do. Therefore, education provision across all our schools, pre-schools and nurseries is closely matched to the specific needs of our learners, particularly the most vulnerable and their families. We place great emphasis on high expectations and quality first teaching to ensure that no child gets left behind.
Pupils have access to high quality teaching and learning
The Rivers CofE Academy Trust has a good track record and is well known for teaching in an innovative and engaging way which has a positive impact on pupil progress and achievement.
In-house school improvement experts, a cohesive curriculum, collaborative working and quality staff professional development ensures we deliver excellent teaching and learning.
Through our inspiring curriculum and enriching opportunities we aim to broaden the ambitions of our pupils, helping them to access the career of their choice and achieve more in the future.
Children speak passionately about what they have learnt that day and are motivated and eager to achieve.
Children learn subjects you’d expect to find on a secondary school timetable to prepare them for the next stage of learning and each subject is given significant time.
Better facilities and safer learning environments for our pupils
As a family of schools we benefit from combined purchasing and financial pooling, which allows us to save on costs, these cost savings are reinvested in school capital projects to create and improve learning spaces.
Examples of capital projects include:
- Pre-school extension
- Classroom refurbishment
- Refitting roofs
- New playgrounds
- Installing new energy efficient boilers.
Over the past year we have invested over £1,250,000 on schools improvements.
