A pop of colour on the gates of St Peter’s Droitwich C of E Academy
Fri 06 Nov 2020The children of St Peter’s Droitwich C of E Academy have been busy making poppies, some of which are displayed on the school gates. The poppies come in a variety of designs using lots of different materials, including painted stones, paper plates, buttons and pipe cleaners to name a few. This arty activity will be supported by a Collective Worship next week where the meaning of remembrance will be discussed.
Mrs O’Keeffe-Pullan, Headteacher, said “The children have created some beautiful poppies this year and it is lovely to be able to share these by displaying them on the gates of the school. We would welcome those passing by to take a moment to enjoy the display and to remember our brave service men and women, past and present”.
Photographed here is part of the display which includes a wreath of painted hands made by Kai James and on the ground a slice of log with painted poppies by Rosie Groves.

CEO's Blog - 6th November 2020
Fri 06 Nov 2020Welcome old and new
I’d like to start by welcoming everyone back to school - I hope that you all had a good half-term break and managed to spend some relaxing time with your families. It is great to see that attendance and enthusiasm across the trust remains high as we begin the new term.
This week we are celebrating some wonderful news. On 1st November we welcomed Summerhill Primary Academy, Jubilee Park Primary Academy and Summerhill’s Little Treasures (formerly of Summer Park MAT in Tipton) into the Rivers family. This marks the culmination of months of careful planning to ensure that this is the right decision for all schools within our trust.
As you know, I firmly believe in the advantages of collaboration for our pupils, staff and communities. As our trust grows, we all benefit from sharing best practice, enhanced continuous school improvement and greatly improved economies of scale. As is the case for all our schools, our new schools will preserve their distinctive characteristics whilst sharing our ethos, vision and values and joining us in our determination to provide the best educational opportunities possible for all our pupils.
We look forward to working together and to getting to know one another better in the months ahead.

Harvest Celebrations at Northwick Manor Primary School
Thu 05 Nov 2020Northwick Manor Primary School held a fantastic inclusive virtual Harvest Service on 23rd October.
Everyone in school watched the service from their classrooms and pupils, parents and carers who were self-isolating at home were invited to make sure that the whole community could join in and be included in the festivities.
Head teacher, Miss Williams, linked all the children’s presentations together and pupils from each year group shared wonderful poems, art work and facts about harvest. The Reverend Todd even joined the celebrations and gave a special address and prayers.
We would like to thank parents and carers who were really supportive of the event and donated an abundance of food for the local food bank, which is run by the Trussell trust. A special mention also goes to George H, who designed and wrote his own leaflet after being inspired by his idol Marcus Rashford. After sharing his leaflet in his local neighbourhood, George gathered nine bags of food and toiletries which were donated to this worthwhile cause - well done George!
We are so proud and thankful to be part of such a wonderful community.

Welcome to our Rivers Family
Wed 04 Nov 2020We had wonderful news on Monday when we welcomed an additional three schools to the Rivers family. Summerhill Primary Academy, Jubilee Park Primary Academy and Summerhill’s Little Treasures, formerly of Summer Park MAT, are now officially part of the Rivers CofE Academy Trust.
Over the past few months, a lot of careful work and formal due diligence has been undertaken behind the scenes to ensure that this is a well-planned journey and the right choice for all of our schools.
Rivers now has fourteen schools across Worcestershire and Birmingham together with a thriving teaching school. We will also be welcoming Cherry Orchard Primary School early next year along with a brand-new alternative provision school in September 2022.
Kate Brunt, CEO of Rivers, said, “This merger will benefit our pupils, staff and communities alike as we realise the benefits of enhanced continuous school improvement and share best practice and greatly improved economies of scale. Each school within our trust retains its distinctive characteristics but we all share the same ethos, vision and values. We also stand united and remain committed to our aim to create a world-class education system for all pupils.”
Kerry Rochester, former CEO of Summer Park MAT and new Director of Education and Deputy CEO at Rivers, said, “The rationale behind Summer Park joining Rivers MAT was due to its forward thinking, outward-looking approach and dedication to improving life chances for all. This is an exciting opportunity for everyone. Senior Leaders are committed to ensuring our pupils have the best possible opportunities to flourish and this increased capacity will support the ambition of individual schools and allow children to fulfil their potential.”
Children are at the heart of everything that we do at Rivers and this additional capacity, collaboration and partnership will help to strengthen the provision of high-quality education for all of our pupils.
