What a wonderful week!

 

What a wonderful week this has been! There was great excitement across the trust on Monday morning as 99% of our pupils returned to school. It was clear that everyone was glad to be getting back to some kind of normality and I couldn’t help but smile as I watched pupils skipping into school and parents and carers skipping out!

 

Our schools have used this first week back productively. Staff have been assessing where pupils are in their learning journeys, identifying gaps and focusing on mental health and wellbeing. After so many weeks apart, the smiling faces around school say much more than words. Pupils and staff are delighted to be back! Unbelievably, this week marks a year since the World Health Organisation recognised the COVID outbreak as a global pandemic. Perhaps not surprisingly, after such a challenging year, it’s the normality of school life that pupils are enjoying the most: being active at playtime, spring walks in the sunshine, forest school activities, being kind and helping each other, learning new things in a buzzing classroom environment and just being together again. Long may it continue!
