Worcester Mayor joins North Worcester Primary Bike Bus
Cllr Adrian Gregson joined families on their morning cycle to North Worcester Primary Academy.
The ever-growing school bike bus welcomed the city mayor on the daily commute to school and was greeted by Emily Calvert, Headteacher and Trust CEO, Kate Brunt.
Cllr Gregson joined the North Worcester school bike bus to experience the cycling journey families undertake each day to get to and from school and to encourage other families to create more bike buses at other Worcester schools.
Rob Collier, a parent at North Worcester Primary Academy started the first ever Bike Bus in Worcester at the school and as part of Bike Worcester has helped create a further 5 bike buses in the city.
Bike Worcester has been awarded funding from Worcester City Council to help establish more bike buses in the city and ensure children get to school safely.
The new funding will mean that Bike Worcester can work closely with schools to develop custom routes, train parent volunteers and provide safety equipment, such as high-vis tabards.
The Bike Buses will benefit pupils and their families, physical and mental health and help the wider community by reducing CO2 emissions, improving air quality and noise levels.
