School’s out for Cranham Primary School Office Manager
Wed 21 Jul 2021After three decades of fantastic service we’re sad to say goodbye to Mrs Lyn Seymore, Office Manager at Cranham Primary School, Worcester.
During her 33 years, Lyn has seen many changes not least on the technological front. In the early days Lyn could be heard click-clacking away in the school office on a manual typewriter. While more recent changes include the school joining the Rivers CofE Academy Trust in 2016.
Originally taking the role as a stop-gap, Lyn hadn’t planned to spend so long at the school, however her enthusiasm and enjoyment for the role kept her in post. Talking about her time at the school Lyn said ‘Cranham has been such a huge part of my life for many years; it is a very special place … a family. I have so many incredibly happy memories of staff and pupils.’
‘Although sorry to say goodbye I am looking forward to spending more time gardening, travelling and spending time with my two grandsons.’
Head at Cranham Primary, Nick Cale commented ‘Lyn is much more than a work colleague, she has been a close friend of mine for 21 years. We have shared so many happy memories! We will all miss Lyn’s loyalty, wisdom and integrity enormously and wish her a very happy and very long retirement.’
We wish Lyn a long and happy retirement!

CEO's Blog - 16th July 2021
Fri 16 Jul 2021CEO’s Blog 16th July 2021
A Heartfelt Thanks to All
I want to use my final blog of 2020-2021 to say a heartfelt thank you to every member of our Rivers family. It is thanks to the collective commitment, positivity and determination of our pupils, staff, parents, carers, SIB members, trustees and members that we have achieved so much during this challenging year. And there is so much more to come! I am already looking forward to the completion of our exciting summer projects, such as the extension to NWPA’s oversubscribed pre-school and the installation of new play equipment at Summerhill and, of course, to the launch of our innovative Rivers curriculum in September.
During this summer term, it has been wonderful to see our pupils enjoying sports days and residential trips again and to welcome the new staff members who will be joining us next term.
It is always sad to say goodbye to our Y6 and Y4 pupils as they start the next stage of their learning journey. I am proud of all that they have achieved and I wish them every success and happiness for the future.
Finally, I wish you all a well-earned break over the summer. I hope that everyone has the opportunity to relax, recharge and enjoy time with their family before we start the next chapter of our journey together.

North Worcester Primary Academy Pre-school expansion work has begun
Wed 14 Jul 2021Work has started to expand the ‘in-demand’ pre-school at North Worcester Primary Academy.
Situated off the Droitwich Road, North Worcester Primary Academy opened its doors for the first time in September 2019 as a brand-new build and since then demand for places at the on-site pre-school have significantly increased.
Original plans for the school offered a single pre-school class of 26 places, however, due to growing requests for pre-school places at the school, they have already added an additional class taking capacity to 50 places.
Pre-school pupils are currently utilising a large key stage 1 classroom, which is free whilst the school grows to reach its full potential of 420 pupils over the next few years.
An investment of over £150,000 for the new pre-school extension will provide a spacious open-plan classroom with direct access to a secure outdoor learning area.
The pre-school offers full-time and flexible childcare for three and four-year-old children for 50 weeks of the year, closing only for bank holidays and during the Christmas break.
Children attending the pre-school can expect high-quality care and education focused on learning through play, with access to the school’s vibrant learning space, extensive grounds and state-of-the-art learning resources.
The pre-school at North Worcester Primary Academy is part of a growing family of new and existing schools, nurseries and pre-schools within the Rivers CofE Academy Trust. The Trust specialise in primary and early years provision with 15 good and outstanding settings and a thriving teaching alliance.
As a trust our vision is to teach children to love, learn, live as a global citizen in an ever-changing world. Our pre-school children will benefit from a unique early learning experience which will ensure they develop and adopt key skills and values needed to achieve their full potential, become independent and develop a love of learning for life.
Building work on the North Worcester Primary Academy Pre-school is due to be completed in the Autumn term 2021. Prospective parents are welcome to make an appointment to come and see our pre-school at any time. Contact the school office on 01905 953850 or email: northworcesterprimary@riverscofe.co.uk -

2021 Sports Day
Fri 09 Jul 2021As we near the end of the summer term, it is time for school sports day.
Most sports days were cancelled last year, but this year children have been able to take part, albeit in class or year-group bubbles.
Pre-school children through to year 6 pupils from across the Rivers Academy Trust have enjoyed taking part in a range of sports and activities such as sack races, egg and spoon races, hurdles, long jump, throwing and even space hopper racing.
Sports day is a much-anticipated occasion. It is a great opportunity for schools to experience the wonderful sense of community gained by having the whole school and their families together. However, sports day does require significant preparation and organisation in any normal year, so combined with current restrictions, many of our schools had to make the regrettable decision to run school sports days without families in attendance.
Safety is a core value of the Rivers Trust and with Covid cases on the rise, schools have had to act cautiously by not adding any greater risk. Kate Ramsey, Head of School at Great Witley Primary School said “Any sports day would have to be significantly amended in order to satisfy a covid risk assessment. This would mean the children’s sports day experience would be limited and not as fun.”
Sports day 2021 has been a brilliant experience for the children, they have demonstrated fantastic sportsmanship, teamwork and support for their peers. Children and staff cheered on all the participants, so no one missed out on encouragement and applause.
Many schools have taken pictures, created special edition sports day newsletters and filmed the event for parents to watch back. -
North Worcester artwork in Worcester Cathedral exhibition
Thu 08 Jul 2021Pupils, teachers and staff at North Worcester Primary Academy took part in an art project for the Young Voices New Visions annual exhibition, organised by Severn Arts.
In response to the 2021 exhibition theme ‘Gratitude’, the school created a mixed media ‘gratitude tree’ made from textiles and painted with acrylic paint. The leaves on the tree represented things that pupils and staff were thankful for, such as food, family, teachers and life.
Monika Kasperek, Pre-school Practitioner who lead the project said “The process was quite long but children were so excited [to be involved]” Pupils with special educational needs found it particularly enjoyable with one pupils saying of the experience “it was so peaceful”.
The exhibition aims to celebrate the creativity of children and young people in Worcestershire, with over 30 schools participating.
You can see North Worcester Primary Academy’s artwork on display at Worcester Cathedral until Sunday 11th July 2021.
