Worcestershire Teachers Meet the PM at No 10
Fri 25 May 2018Two teachers represented the Worcestershire-based Rivers CofE Academy Trust at a reception at 10 Downing Street to celebrate the hard work, talent and dedication of teachers across the county.The Rivers CofE Academy Trust was selected to acknowledge the outstanding work teachers achieve across the country. Amanda Mason, from St Clements CofE Primary and Meg Manning from Heronswood Primary School were hosted by the Prime Minister, Teresa May and the Education Secretary, Damian Hinds.Amanda said: “We met and spoke to Damien Hinds and Nick Gibb, amongst many other ministers. We discussed the successes of teaching and challenges we face and shared our experiences. Teresa May gave a speech and mentioned the importance of teachers and the impact they have on individuals. She thanked us for our incredible hard work and for inspiring young people. She even said they are working to try and reduce our work load.”Meg added: “We felt extremely privileged to be part of an event celebrating outstanding teaching. The entire experience was surreal, from arriving at No 10 and knocking on the door, through to looking around the building and enjoying wine and canapés.”During the event, both the Prime Minister and Secretary of State for Education paid tribute to the hard work and dedication of the profession which, alongside the government’s bold reforms, have helped to raise standards – with 1.9 million more children now in good or outstanding schools than in 2010.There are 15,500 more teachers than in 2010 and the quality of new entrants into the teaching profession is at an all-time high, with almost a fifth of new teachers starting this year holding a first-class degree. -
Computer Generated Images of New School Released
Fri 04 May 2018The first computer generated images of North Worcester Primary Academy, which is due to open in Perdiswell in September 2019, have been released. The brand new, ultra modern school building will utilise the very latest education-specific, design ideas and technology, providing the optimum teaching and learning environment.Classrooms will be light and spacious with climate control to maximise pupil comfort and concentration. Design-led room layouts will assist best teaching practice, include age-specific library areas and interconnected break out areas for one-to-one support.Specialist subject rooms will give the space and resources for pupils to take part in regular practical activities in STEM subjects and food technology. A dedicated studio room will provide specialist space for music, technology and dance.There will be a strong emphasis on pastoral care and the building designs incorporate a dedicated nurture/reflection room to facilitate this. A fully functioning kitchen will allow delicious fresh food to be prepared and cooked on site.Outside, an astro-turf sports area will enable children to engage in outdoor sports all year round, which mature trees and shrubs provide the perfect environment for Forest School activities.NWPA is managed by of the thriving Rivers Multi Academy Trust. Within the MAT we are continually collaborating and sharing learning from all nine of our schools and as such we have been able to cherry-pick some of the best features from other schools and build them into the design of NWPA. Winning Ticket Design
Tue 01 May 2018Congratulations to Sophia Long, Y2 Pupil from Northwick Manor in her winning ticket design for this years' Riversfest concert in July. Great design Sophia!
Our festival of music will take place on Thursday 12th July and is open to all pupils across the trust from Years 2-6. Around 500 pupils from our family of schools will come together on Thursday 12th July for the third annual Fesitval of Music.
Each School will perform their own chosen song, as well as joining toegher as a 500 voice choir for a host of Rivers' songs. Parents and guests will be invited to bring along a picnic and watch their children perform.
This event allows all our pupils over Worcestershire to make new friends and enjoy a new cultural experience.
