NQT Programme 2020 - 2021

NQT Induction and Training Programme

Rivers Teaching Alliance are an ‘Appropriate Body’ thoroughly committed to providing your NQTs with the very best quality support and guidance as they enter the next phase of their professional development. Our aim is to help your NQTs to establish and develop a successful and rewarding career in teaching under the guidance of our experienced and outstanding teacher and mentor Catherine Atkinson who is in charge of the accreditation process. Our programme is closely aligned to the Early Career Framework and is made up of many elements to provide the support to make sure they pass their NQT year with flying colours and become a confident and effective teaching professional

The full NQT Programme package includes 2 twilight sessions for NQTs covering the following topics:

  • NQT Year – paperwork and procedures, using growth mind-set,  and understanding teacher standards
  • Behaviour Management

It also includes 10 Webinar training sessions covering the following topics:

  • Mental Health & Wellbeing
  • Teacher Presence
  • SEND 
  • Drop In Q&A
  • Formative Assessment
  • Additional Adults That Support Learning
  • Creative Curriculum
  • Advance Mentoring 
  • Character Education 
  • Outdoor Education / Sustainability

and entry to the ECT (Early Career Teachers) conference.

There are also regular newsletters on relevant topics for NQTs and teachers in general, with best practice ideas and support provided.

This programme is delivered in collaboration by the Rivers Teaching Alliance and the University of Worcester through a range of experts and teaching professionals. 

The cost for each participant is £299 or £550 for two NQTs in one school setting. Flexible pricing is available for schools with 3 NQTs or more, please contact us for details. Rivers Teaching Alliance will also manage the relevant verification and administrative processes for each NQT. This includes:

  • Registering the NQT with the Teaching Agency/NCTL
  • Maintaining and collating records and assessment reports
  • Working with Headteacher/Induction Mentor of the school to assess the NQTs performance against the Teaching Standards
  • Informing the Teaching Agency of the decision
  • On-site visits to support struggling NQTs
