St Clement’s praised for Outstanding Personal Development by Ofsted
St Clement’s CofE Primary School is delighted to announce the outcomes of its recent Ofsted inspection, conducted on October 22 and 23, 2024. The inspection highlighted the school’s high standards and dedication to pupil success, achieving ‘Good’ ratings in all key areas — quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, leadership and management, and early years provision — and an ‘Outstanding’ rating for personal development.
Headteacher Rebecca Mclean shared her pride: “We thrive on developing children holistically and I am proud of the hard work, day in, day out that we do for our children and families.”
Highlights from the Ofsted Report
Inspectors complimented the school for creating a welcoming and nurturing environment where "pupils love to learn." They noted:
- Curriculum Excellence: "The school has developed a curriculum that is ambitious," designed to help pupils build knowledge over time and make meaningful connections across subjects.
- Strong Behaviour and Relationships: Pupils "understand and respect difference" and demonstrate the school’s and trust’s core values in their interactions. Inspectors noted the "high expectations for how pupils behave" and the strong relationships between staff and pupils.
- Outstanding Personal Development: The report commended the school’s "exceptional" personal development provision, with pupils well-prepared for modern Britain and equipped with the skills to be "responsible, active citizens."
One of the standout quotes reflects the school’s inclusive culture: “Pupils say, ‘Everyone can be the way they want to be in this school.’”
The school’s effective approach to reading was also praised, with inspectors observing: “Pupils’ love of reading is visible across the school,” and early years children benefit from a strong phonics program that ensures they become confident, fluent readers.
Leadership and Support
The school’s success is underpinned by the collaborative efforts of The Rivers CofE Multi Academy Trust, led by CEO Matt Meckin and Chair of Trustees Andy Jobbins. The trust’s focus on staff development and high-quality teaching and learning principles was highlighted in the report as a critical factor in ensuring sustained excellence.
Looking Ahead
St Clement’s CofE Primary remains committed to continuous improvement. The school will focus on further enhancing curriculum accessibility for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) to ensure every child thrives.
This achievement reflects St Clement’s unwavering commitment to providing ‘an extraordinary education for every pupil’ rooted in Christian values. The school thanks its community for their ongoing support and looks forward to building on this success.
